It’s no surprise that taking on the role of a world-famous superhero can be a daunting task for an actor. Cavill explained, “The biggest challenge of playing Superman is that it’s not just a role, it’s not just a character who you play when you’re on set—it’s something that people believe in. It’s very important to children and adults. The most challenging thing is balancing my own life and also representing that character in the truest way possible because it does matter.”

The world premiere, presented by Mercedes-Benz, attracted not only the superheroes themselves, but also their loyal fans who dressed up in costume; loud cheering and applause from the audience accompanied the entire length of the film’s screening. The highly anticipated superhero movie chronicles Bruce Wayne, who enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face the threat of an alien invasion. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work to find and recruit a team of metahumans to protect mankind.

Connie Nielsen, who plays Queen Hippolyta in the film, spoke about the importance of including women in the 21st-century landscape of superhero films. Wearing an Altuzarra gown, the actress stated, “One of the things we want to be working on is to make sure that there is a place for young women to demand a safe working environment.”

After the screening, guests made their way to a top-secret Hollywood lot where the fictional city from the film came to life for the after-party. Partygoers ate pizza from Gotham City’s very own pizza parlor and sampled sweets from Wonder Woman’s tower of Bottega Louie macarons. As guests explored the fictional city, they posed for photos next to a replica of the Batmobile and celebrated the film’s release until late in the night.
